### What You Should Already Know For Math 121/122 and Beyond

These are some of the basic things that I expect you to be able to do with a reasonable degree of ease.

Fractions

- Addition and subtraction of fractions
Examples
- find the least common denominator (LCD)
- build the fraction so all parts have LCD
- add numerators and place them over the LCD

Examples:

- Multiplication of fractions

- Division of fractions

- Factoring
- x
^{2} -5x + 6 = (x - 3)(x -2 )
- x
^{2} -5x - 14 = (x - 7)(x + 2)
- x
^{2} +5x + 6 = (x + 3)(x + 2)

- Powers
- x
^{m}*x^{n} = x^{m+n} using numbers, x^{2}x^{3}=x^{2+3}= x^{5}
- (x
^{m})^{n} = x^{mn} using numbers, (x^{2})^{3} = x^{6}
